Using Obsidian For DnD Prep

Today I did a lot of work on the DnD world I’m creating to run a campaign for my two adult sons. I knew that notebooks would be hard to keep track of everything, so I decided to use Obsidian. I’m learning it, so I might as well make notes and get some practice with it.

Well, today I found out that Obsidian is absolutely amazing for DnD prep. The ease of linking between notes makes Obsidian wonderful for creating an intricate world where so many things are related.

Today I used it for planning a guild, some NPCs, and some lore for our world. Having notes on each piece that I could link together brought my world to life already and I have so much left to do!

I made 35 notes today and I barely scratched the surface. I can’t wait to see how this world and campaign continue to take shape.

If you’re a beginner dungeon master, or an experienced one that might be interested in Obsidian, give it a try. Once you get in there and start making notes, your notes will spark new notes, and before you know it your whole world will come to life.
