Self Care

It’s easy to let self care tasks go in favor of tasks deemed more productive, but I don’t think it’s a good idea. I can always tell when I’ve begun to ignore those little things that make me feel more like me, ways I choose to care for myself.

Tonight I took a little time to care for myself. I made a cup of vitamin C tea, Bigalow’s I Love Lemon this time, but I also have another vitamin C tea I like too. I used my good lotion, lit a few candles, prayed, watched a show, and I made a decision to soak my feet in the morning while I have coffee. It’s been a long time since I took the time to do that, so I’m looking forward to it. It made me smile to contemplate which scent I should use, what a luxury!

I used to enjoy bubble baths, long, drawn out, luxurious ones, but in recent years I’ve preferred a hot shower. I had one of those tonight, too. I used my favorite bath products in my favorite scents.

I’m glad I took a little time to care for myself tonight, in a few ways that are meaningful to me. I’m grateful for the small luxuries like a warm cup of tea, a favorite scent, and the warm glow of a flickering candle.

I hope you take a few moments to care for yourself this weekend.
