Obituary: Isaac Gordon Brogdon Jr.

November 27, 1960 – July 5, 2023

This obituary was originally posted on Music Funeral Services. It was written by me, Crystal Touchton, one of his daughters, with love. I’m publishing it here for preservation and legacy.

Isaac Gordon Brogdon Jr. (Gordon), 62, of Sparta, TN passed away peacefully on 7/5/2023, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 27, 1960, in Lanier County to the late Isaac Gordon Sr. (Ike) and Mary Jane Brogdon. He grew up in Lakeland, Georgia and most of his family still resides in the area.

Gordon was a drummer and he traveled through life to the beat of his own drum both literally and figuratively. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family, music, playing the drums, fishing, and watching different animals from his porch, oftentimes giving them a voice and narrating their shenanigans.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jo Bridges; and two brothers, Clyde Brogdon and Kenneth Brogdon.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Brogdon, Sparta, TN; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Ron Touchton, Columbus, GA and Heidi and Brent Riley, Nashville, GA; grandchildren, Brandon Riley (Lauren), Amanda Jones (Tyler), Kenneth Miller, and Chrystian Touchton; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, Bill King, and other beloved family members.

A special thank you to those who cared for, visited, called, prayed for, or in other ways checked on Gordon in his last days. He may no longer be with us physically, but his music will forever be in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
