James’ Blog and New Year’s Directions

Yesterday I was reading a post about New Year’s on James’ Coffee Blog.  It’s beautifully descriptive and well written, describing his surroundings, his hope for the new year, and his thoughts on the past. I love how he shares his observations, full of hope and wonder.

In the post, James also shares how he thinks of New Year’s goals, and I absolutely love the way he views them. James says that his short list is more like directions to guide him throughout the year rather than a to-do list. I love how he mentions being kind to himself, and I think we could all take note and be a little kinder to ourselves this year.

James also shares about how he makes incremental changes based on small observations. Instead of taking some all or nothing approach, or attempting sweeping drastic changes, he gently and lovingly course corrects. He gives himself time to adjust, time to breathe, time to be. He shows himself loving kindness. (He also extends that kindness to others.)

Wise beyond his years, James seems to be an old soul who writes thoughtfully and beautifully.  If you haven’t read his blog, you’re missing out.
