I Forgot How Relaxing Minecraft Can Be

Today was such a relaxing and cozy day. I spent the morning and this evening playing Minecraft. Until yesterday, I hadn’t played in months. It was nice to just kick back and play.

Yesterday I found a village (I like to live in or close to one), so today I spent the time in game terrforming and fixing issues with the village. I made a dock  and started creating the part of the village where my fishermen will live and work. I fixed some major issues with paths. I did some leveling and worked on the flow of the existing village elements. I plan to level some more land and expand the village, but right now I’m focusing on existing problems and structures.

I ended up in a cave at one point and died more times than I can count, which was the most frustrating part of my day. Eventually I hauled a bed down there so I wouldn’t have as far to go pick up my stuff when I inevitably kicked the bucket. Even though I got frustrated, it was still fun.

Just playing without expectations or trying to level up as fast as possible was amazing and it’s the way I prefer to play. I don’t care that I am in a mix of iron and chainmain armor or that I’m currently using stone tools. I don’t care that I haven’t traded with villagers, made an iron farm, or even planted a large garden. I don’t care that I don’t have animals yet. I don’t care that I haven’t built my house, or even found a place to build my house. I’m considering a hobbit house, but not sure this go around. I’ll decide that later.

I had forgotten how relaxing Minecraft could be when I just play the way I want to in the moment. No to do lists. No rushing. No expectations.
