Happy Little Dinosaurs

Recently, my oldest son (an adult) bought a game called Happy Little Dinosaurs, partly because we love games, and partly as a joke. I love cute dinosaurs, and he wanted to see the look of horror on my face when I discovered that the game put these sweet little cuties in peril with countless disasters. Poor lil’ dinosaurs.

Today we had a chance to play the game for the first time and we both loved it. It’s fast paced and so much fun. The way the disaster cards were worded was my favorite part. The disaster cards start out sounding ok, but then they take a turn and you realize what the disaster is. For example, one card turned a dinosaur’s spa day into a soak in hot tar. Poor thing.

The point of the game is to help your dinosaur escape and be the first one to the escape area. On your way other players will try to steal your points and if you get too many disasters, your dinosaur will die and you lose.

Even thought he bought it as a joke, I think my son made a great choice with this game and I can’t wait to play it again!

  1. Wow this brought back memories. My son loved this game when he was little – it was a favorite in the house. We are now playing Harmonies, Isle of Cats, Splendor, and a few others.
