Yes, this is going to be the traditional “I’m grateful for…” blog post, the predictable post that every blogger writes at some point on or near Thanksgiving. Either that will irk you, or that will delight you, and in either case, welcome! ***(Trigger Warning: Death of loved one)*** Today is a weird day. I’m in…

Using Obsidian For DnD Prep
Today I did a lot of work on the DnD world I’m creating to run a campaign for my two adult sons. I knew that notebooks would be hard to keep track of everything, so I decided to use Obsidian. I’m learning it, so I might as well make notes and get some practice with…
Best Advice for How to Learn To Use Obsidian
Obsidian is an amazing personal knowledge system (PKS) that uses folders and linking to store, connect, and interact with information about various topics you’re interested in. Setting up Obsidian can be a little intimidating if you allow it to be, but there are many resources available to help. I watched a ton of videos about…
Morning Routine
This morning, James tagged me in Discord to tell me he enjoyed reading one of my blog posts, and I’m glad he enjoyed it, but it reminded me that I hadn’t read his blog in over a week. So, I headed on over there to check out his latest posts, and you should too. He…
Thoughts on Thanksgiving This Year
Thanksgiving in the United States is just a few days away, but it’s been on my mind for a while. I’ve got some mixed feelings about it, to be honest. Thanksgiving would have fallen on my dad’s birthday this year. He passed a couple of years ago, and since his would be birthday is fast…
Beginner Dungeon Master Resources
I don’t know much about DnD or being a dungeon master, but I’ve been learning about it and I’m going to use this as a place to keep resources for myself and anyone else trying to learn how to be a dungeon master. Don’t forget to stop back by. As I find and use resources,…
How to Recover From an Off Day
If you thought this was going to be informative, you may or may not be right. I guess we’ll see by the end of this post. I should have put a question mark at the end of that title because I’m asking the question as much as I’m trying to answer it. Ever have one…
Dungeon Master Resume (Definitely Not Overqualified)
CuppaRex Desired Position: Dungeon Master (Ok, fine, not desired, against my will, but I’m here. That counts, right?) Objective: Succeed as DM for my sons with absolutely no idea what I’m doing…yet. Lisa Woodruff of Organize365 and a Lesson About Purpose and Letting Go
Recently, I listened to a podcast from Organize365, where Lisa Woodruff announced that they will be discontinuing the sale of the Friday Boxes. It’s not unusual for companies to discontinue underperforming products, but the Friday Boxes are not underperforming. People love the Friday Box, and it sells well. At first glance, it seems nutty for…
Day 18 of 100: Hardest Day So Far (Sorry for all the whining)
Today is day 18 of my 100 day blogging challenge, where I have committed to posting on this blog once each day for 100 days, and it’s been the hardest day so far. It’s not that I don’t want to write, because I have enjoyed writing regularly. It’s been wonderful to just sit down and…
Excellent Podcast Episode: Technology is Making Me and My House Dumb
Organize365 is one of my favorite podcasts. It’s helped me improve day to day operations and has helped me plan ahead a little more in some areas of my life. I’m still working on some things, but Organize365 has helped a lot in the way that I think about my home, my roles, and my…
Invisible Struggles and Kindness
I want to encourage others to be kind to one another. There shouldn’t have to be a reason to show kindness, to give the benefit of the doubt, or to extend grace to others. Just treat others kindly. I used to think the best way to express that sentiment was that one should treat people…
To Blogroll or Not To Blogroll?
…that is the question. After finding the IndieWeb community, I started thinking back to what blogging was years ago, old school blogging. Back then, blogrolls were a great way to find interesting blogs, and it was a great way to showcase the blogs you enjoyed reading. Before I ever wrote a blog post myself, I…
The Mindset of Incremental Change
Before a shift in my mindset, I wouldn’t have went to the gym this morning. My back and hip flexors were so tight and I didn’t think I’d be able to do anything. It would have been easy not to go. In the past few weeks, I’ve worked hard to improve my life in several…
Gym report
- Bench press
- Leg press
- Lat pulldown
Of course I hopped on the hydro massage bed again after. I enjoyed today more than last time, and I’m glad I went even though I didn’t think I’d be able to do much.
Finished Coding My First Static HTML Page
I finished coding my first static HTML webpage, my Now Page. (happy dance! happy dance!) Over on the post “Dear Diary, Blah Blah Blah…”, I posted about discovering Now Pages when Pat shared her Now Page. Well, I’ve been working on mine a little at the time. Coding, checking code, writing, coding, checking, figuring out…
Bullet Journaling on Index Cards
I’ve loved bullet journaling since the moment I heard about it, but I’ve never been able to stick with it. It’s a wonderfully flexible way to manage your life if your brain is wired in that way. However, parts of the bullet journal system don’t work for me. I love how simple and effective rapid…
Inkjet Printer Is Not Printing Properly But Ink Shows Full – What To Do
- Make sure you have ink. (Start with easiest first when troubleshooting.) If you have ink, go to step 2.
- Clean your ink cartriges. – Remove your ink cartriges. Find the strip where your ink comes out and clean it with a clean damp cloth, or qtip. (The qtip worked great for me.) After cleaning, dab it dry but don’t worry too much. You should see a little swipe of ink when you wipe the dry cloth or qtip over it. Make sure you don’t use anything that can leave debris like tissue paper. Put the ink cartridges back and see if that worked. If it didn’t work, go to step 3.
- Clean the printheads. Most modern home printers have an app that includes a troubleshooting area. Use your app to run an automatic printhead cleaning cycle. You may have to do it more than once.
If your printer’s not printing properly after this, I have no idea what it is, but I hope you can find out. And if it is something else and you find a solution, let me know!
When Enjoyment Becomes Obligation
This morning, I read an excellent blog post about how the Author goes through periods of reading and periods of not reading, and his feelings about it. His experience mirrors my own, but not just with reading. I experience this with most kinds of media. There’s an ebb and flow to my personal media consumption,…
I Walked So There
I walked today, it was cold, and I posted about it here.
