Aloe Plant’s First Baby

I recently discovered that my aloe plant, Jimmy Buffett, has its first baby, or pup. Isn’t that just the cutest name for a baby plant? A pup? Adorable! I didn’t know that’s what they were called until I was searching for information about how many they can produce and under what conditions, but boy am I glad that I learned that little tidbit.

I named the mama Aloe Plant Jimmy Buffett because it was a gift from my sister, who used fairy garden supplies to make Jimmy Buffett’s flower pot into a tropical paradise, complete with plastic palm trees and a flamingo. The name seemed fitting, and it rhymed with my spider plant’s name, Miss Muffet.

I decided to name this pup Cheeseburger, after Jimmy Buffett’s song Cheeseburger in Paradise. I briefly considered naming it Parrott Head, but I think that will have to wait till we have another pup.

Since I bought two cheap grow lights for Jimmy Buffett and Miss Muffet, they’ve both grown so much, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. As a former and recovering serial plant murderer, I am amazed at how well my plant babies are doing. Maybe I’ve turned over a new leaf. (Couldn’t resist.)
