Obsidian is an amazing personal knowledge system (PKS) that uses folders and linking to store, connect, and interact with information about various topics you’re interested in.
Setting up Obsidian can be a little intimidating if you allow it to be, but there are many resources available to help. I watched a ton of videos about Obsidian recently, but it seemed complicated and I put off getting started. And I shouldn’t have waited! It is awesome!
- What do I name my vault? (Whaever you want, you can name it later.)
- I don’t know what folders to use. (It doesn’t matter, you can change that too.)
- I’m not sure how to use obsidian. (You can learn from a tutorial, but most of what you learn will be once you get into obsidian and start writing and linking your notes. One note will spark and idea for another and another. Pretty soon, you’ll have a whole web of information.
If you’re considering using Obsidian, watch a few videos, then jump in there and make some notes and play with the program. It is really cool to watch the animation of your notes being formed in the graph view (web view).
Here’s a playlist and a few videos by , but please just get in there and play. You can download a sample ideaverse (look in the description of the first video.)
