desk with laptop and an inspiration wall

My Inspiration Board

I have an inspiration board covering the wall behind my computer. It’s actually the metal grid part of a baby crib (the part the mattress sits on) that’s been upcycled. I clip things on it that I want to be inspired by, I like or love for some reason, or something I find beautiful or interesting.  I thought I’d share it today.

I want to start off by saying the desk has seen better days, but to be honest, it had seen better days when I bought it for 20 dollars a couple of years ago. The top was in bad shape when I bought it, but I’m grateful to have found a desk the size I wanted to have for such a bargain. I’m going to be covering the top with contact paper soon, and who knows, I might get a few more years (or more) out of this 20 dollar desk.

Top 5 Favorite Things From The Wall

  1. A note from my husband telling me how much he loves me.
  2. A Mother’s Day card from my kids and husband.
  3. The printout of a mouse giving thumbs up that says, “Everything is Figuroutable.”
  4. The printout of the fairy that says, “Don’t make yourself small for anyone. Be the awkward, funny, intelligent, beautiful little weirdo you are. Don’t hold back. Weird it out.”
  5. The greeting card with the cat drinking coffee while sticking its tongue out.

The Truth Is…

If I were to name all my favorites on this inspiration wall, I’d end up listing everything on it.

Over Time I add things, move things around, remove some items…the wall just grows and changes with me over time. Right now I’m happy with it, but tomorrow that could change. I think that’s why I love having this rather than a piece of art. Maybe this is art, living art.

My dream would be to have my desk near a window that overlooks the gulf, but for now, my inspiration wall is a nice view.
