There’s a superstition that says whatever you do on New Year’s Day is what you’ll be doing throughout the new year. Because of that, a lot of people don’t clean or work on New Year’s Day beyond basic daily tasks, and I used to be one of those people. This year I decided on a change of perspective.
If what I do to today sets the tone for the year, what do I want to be doing all year?
The answer to that is I want to do the things that need to be done and also carve some time out for myself. So, today that’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve been spending time with my family, watching movies, tidying, cleaning, planning, and now I’m writing. Before bed I’ll do my bible study and pray. Today I’ve done the things I want to do and the things that need to be done, and I hope that’s what the year ahead will be like.
My word of the year is stewardship and I wrote a post about it here. Today, I think I was a good steward of what God has provided.
Hello 2026, welcome!
