The Single Best Thing About Established Habits and Routines

Today I didn’t feel well at all. Different members of my family have been sick for a couple weeks now. It’s just slowly moving through each of us at its own pace. Unfortunately for me, today was a day where I’ve been exhausted, not feeling well, and just generally run down, but I’m here writing.

Used to, I’d have just decided to to write, but today I just found myself sitting here typing. It’s just a habit now. I just know that I’m going to write a blog post here no matter how I’m feeling that day as long as I physically can do it.

I also cooked today. It wasn’t a gormet meal, but I cooked. And I cleaned my kitchen. These are all habits and even though I didn’t really want to do any of these things, I did them because they’re just things I do.

Established habits and routines have the ability to override our moods, the way we feel, and to a certain point if we’re well or not. They become so ingrained in our day to day lives, that they just get done most of the time (there are always going to be times we don’t do certain things).

As someone who has a love/hate relationship with habits and routines, this is the single best part about them.
