2026 Word of the Year

Since I’ve been facing some health challenges in the last month, I’ve had ample time for reflection. I tend to be more introspective toward the end of the year, especially from my birthday to New Year’s. I’m just starting a little early this year.

I’ve identified some areas I’d like to focus on and improve upon over the course of the next year, but today I was thinking about choosing a Word of the Year for 2026. I normally set some resolutions or goals, but I’ve only set a Word of the Year a few times.  I think simplifying my goals into one word will help me to stay connected and focused.

I have chosen “stewardship” as my 2026 Word of the Year.  It simply means to take care of or manage something wisely. I can’t think of a better word to describe what I hope to do in the New Year. I want to be a good steward of the things God has entrusted me with. I can align every goal I have, every area of my life I want to improve, with the word, “stewardship” to help me stay focused on what’s important to me.

My hope is that when I review this post next year, that I’ll be able to say that I was a good steward of every blessing I was given.

Do you have a word of the year for 2026?
